Now based in London, international artist Rina Bakis born in Istanbul, studied art and architecture. In her paintings Rina shows her fascination with colour and movement which are the defining characteristics of her abstract work. Her paintings have always a duality. They are energetic movements transforming sometimes in colourful landscapes and sometimes depicting space and time She builds layers over textured surfaces and uses colour to create depth. Rina never works from a sketch or a photo; instead she shapes the subject matter in her mind and starts moving her brushes on the canvas. She works on a painting until she is completely satisfied with the final result. Her aim is to make the observers feel happy inside by taking them to a joyful place.
