Life drawing was once at the heart of an Art school education but it has now been pushed to the margins. Art students can go through a degree course never once drawing the figure from life. We are a group of artists who believe that life drawing should not be consigned to the ‘dustbin of history’ but valued in its own right as a process that hones and sharpens observational skills whilst encouraging a vital engagement with the human subject. We are a diverse group of people with art school experience from different countries and consequently we each approach figure drawing from a different angle. We meet at the Islington Arts Factory, a community arts centre that hosts a weekly life class (see below for web site).
