Soprano Maria Johannsen sings concerts especially with Lieder and appears with concert talks in German, Danish and English.
She has sung concerts with opera and oratorio arias and Lieder in Germany, Denmark, Italy, Saint Petersburg and England. Since many years Maria has a very intense concert activity with the ensemble Corde di gioia - Strings of Joy with her two daughters. For this trio the English composer Dr. Liz Lane wrote the song cycle "Brightest Day" on the themes of travel, the weather and the special Danish "hygge" and the accompaniment is not only the piano, but also strings tailored specifically to the trio. Together with Giuly Johannsen she formed the ensemble Duo con Moto sharing a passion for Lieder and the violin repertoire especially for Russian music.
Giuly Johannsenis born in Italy and grew up there, in England and in Denmark. She began playing the violin when she was 5 years old . Besides the violin she also plays the piano, as Lieder accompaniment and chamber music. She receives music teaching from Maria Johannsen, Sholto Kynoch, director of Oxford Lieder festival, and studies violin with Frederik Øland, violinist in the Danish String Quartet.
