On Sunday February 16th 2020 Marianne Tyler Brown will present a lunchtime programme of Music for Solo cello, exploring repertoire from baroque to 20th century and the beautiful sonorous sounds of the cello. The recital will include solo works by J.S Bach, Gordon Jacob and Imogen Holst. To reflect her time touring Slovenia and Hungary Marianne will also perform some rarely played works by Slovene and Hungarian composers.
Marianne studied the cello at The Royal Academy of Music, Royal Northern College of Music and Liszt Academy in Budapest, Hungary and was awarded a Masters in Cultural Management at City University. Having performed with leading orchestras and ensembles including The Halle, Welsh National Opera and Bratislava Chamber orchestra her work has also led to recordings for BBC Radio, Television and ITV. Solo and chamber performances include venues throughout the UK and Europe including St James Piccadilly, Victoria & Albert Museum, Royal Academy of Arts, Burgh House, Lauderdale House, Stanjel, Castle Slovenia and Palace of The Arts in Budapest. Following a period of focusing on her family and teaching career Marianne is returning to recital work and chamber music projects as well as cello teaching and her academic career writing and presenting research on cello pedagogy. This is the second solo cello recital Marianne has presented at Burgh house in recent years.
