Michael Morpurgo will be in conversation discussing his recent translation of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s classic fable The Little Prince. The mysterious, innocent and beautiful boy who appears to a pilot stranded in the desert and makes an extraordinary request has captured the hearts of millions of readers around the world. His story first appeared in 1943, written down by an aristocratic French aviator who soon after disappeared during a flight across the sea. Of the story, Morpurgo has said, ‘The best of humankind is in the character of the Little Prince: the kindness, the oddness, the endless inquisitiveness, the genius of creativity.’ Morpurgo is the bestselling author of War Horse and was awarded a knighthood earlier this year.
